NCC ‘B’ and ‘C’ Certificate Exam Paper III- Miscellaneous: NCC Environmental Awareness and Conservation.
- There are two types of Natural Resources. They are Renewable Resources and Non‐Renewable Resources.
- The classification of resources based on origin is as follows: Biotic and Abiotic.
- Resources are classified based on their development stage, including potential, actual, reserve, and stock resources.
- Global warming is the long-term heating of the Earth’s surface observed since the pre-industrial period (between 1850 and 1900) due to human activities, primarily burning fossil fuels, which increases heat-trapping greenhouse gas levels in Earth’s atmosphere.
- The greenhouse effect is the process through which heat is trapped near the Earth’s surface by substances known as greenhouse gases. Imagine these gases as a cozy blanket enveloping our planet, helping to maintain a warmer temperature than it would have otherwise. Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide, methane, ozone, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and water vapor. Water vapor reacts to temperature changes and is referred to as ‘feedback’ because it amplifies the effect of forces that initially caused the warming.
- Water Conservation covers policies, strategies, and activities to manage fresh water as a sustainable resource, protect the water environment, and meet current and future human demands. Practices for Water Conservation are Water Conservation Practices for Water Utilities, Agricultural Water Conservation Practices, and Industrial and Commercial Water Conservation Practices.
- Rainwater harvesting captures the rainwater runoff in our houses, villages, towns, or cities. It means accumulating and storing rainwater for reuse before it reaches the aquifer.
- Types of Rainwater Harvesting Systems are Ground Catchment Systems, Roof Catchment Systems, and Sub Surface Dyke.
- Energy conservation refers to various ways and methods of reducing energy consumption by economizing on the use of a particular source of energy.
- Non-conventional sources of Energy are Solar Energy, Wind Energy, and Biogas.
